With this healthy desi style sauce (Instead of the regular fattening white gravy made with cheese and flour), your dish is guaranteed to do wonders for your entire family’s health while pleasing their taste buds. As it’s cooked desi-style, even the elders in the family will be left wanting more! What’s more? Since this dish is so easy to prepare and takes less than an hour to get ready, the kids can also ace it when you’re not around.

Well, for starters, the sauce has indexfresh tomatoes and carrots (source of Vitamin B6, B2 and B1), olive oil (good for your heart and bones) and bell peppers (capsaicin that fight diabetes and cholesterol). To give it a holistic Indian touch, spices like turmeric and coriander that are loaded with cancer fighting, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant properties and various other benefits make it even better.

Ingredients & Recipe for 4 servings:

Onion – 2 large, diced

Carrot – 2 large, diced

Bell peppers – 2 medium, diced

Tomatoes – 3 medium, halved

Olive oil- 5 tsp

Pasta – 1 bowl / 400 grams

Garlic – 5 cloves, finely chopped

Coriander Powder – 1 tsp

Turmeric Powder – 1 tsp

Cumin Powder – 1 tsp

Basil leaves – for garnish

Salt – to taste


Cooking Process

Pour olive oil in a non-stick saucepan. Add chopped garlic, chopped onion, carrots and bell pepper and cook for about 20 minutes. Throw in the tomatoes and cook for 10 more minutes. Last but not the least; add coriander, turmeric and cumin powder, salt to taste and a pinch of sugar. Simmer for no less than 20 minutes, till the broth thickens. Transfer the whole concoction into a hand blender.

Meanwhile cook your pasta as per the instruction on the pack. Drain the pasta completely before tossing through our sauce. Garnish it with basil leaves.
