There are a lot of food items which you should be consuming to ward off allergies. These foods can boost your immunity system and help you in fighting allergies that might disrupt your well-being.

Listed below are a few foods which fight allergies:

  1. Oranges: The essential oils present in citrus fruits can help in relaxing nasal passages. Oranges have an antihistamine effect and provide relief to your stuffed nose. Hence, if you consume oranges regularly, you will be able to ward off allergies pertaining to cold.
  2. Fatty Fishes: Fatty fishes such as mackerel, sardines, salmon, trout and tuna are packed with Omega-3 fatty acids which have anti-allergic properties. The EPA and DHA are two healthy Omega-3 acids which can prove to be effective in relaxing certain allergic reactions. The vitamins and minerals which are present in these acids are proven to relax skin allergies.
  3. Green Tea: Green tea has great anti-oxidant properties which can help in fighting allergies. Your body releases histamine (a certain chemical) during allergic reactions. The natural antihistamines present in green tea help in fighting off the allergic reactions. A cup of green tea can also help in getting rid of morning sneezing and cold.
  4. Broccoli: Broccolis are highest in Quercetin (a kind of flavonoid) content. Quercetin helps in reducing inflammation which is an outcome of some allergic reactions.
  5. Certain foods such as apples, berries, cabbage and cauliflowers are also rich in Quercetin content.
  6. Grapes: Grapes consist of a mixture of polyphenols (anti-oxidants) which can help in easing inflammations in the air passages. These anti-oxidants are also useful in easing and curing symptoms of allergies such as swollen sinuses and congestion.
  7. Curd: Curd is packed with probiotics which consist of both anti-allergic and anti-inflammatory properties; these help in relieving allergic reactions. Curd is very effective in curing allergic rhinitis in children between the ages of 2-5 years.
