Migraine is defined as a condition in which a person experiences regular or irregular attacks of headaches. The intensity of the headaches fluctuates between mild to severe. There are no specific reasons why migraines occur but some people who suffer from a migraine tend to experience particular warning signs or symptoms before the onset of a migraine. However, for some, a migraine attack happens without warning.

Here are some symptoms experienced by people before a migraine attack:

  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Sensitivity to light or loud noises
  • Sweating
  • Abdominal pain
  • Diarrhea
  • Excessive urination
  • Stuffy nose

  1. Stress : A lot of people report that stress is a major trigger for their migraine attacks. Stress can be caused by psychological or physical factors. In order to control your stress levels, try to get regular rest if your daily routine involves a lot of physical activity. For emotional stress, the best way is to focus on things that make you happy and try to make time for them. Another method of controlling stress is meditation. Practising meditation only for a couple of minutes every day can lower your stress levels and help you remain calm in otherwise stress situations.
  2. Lack of Sleep : The lack of proper sleep has also been seen to cause migraine attacks. Irregular sleeping patterns or not getting enough sleep affect the body both physically and mentally. Transform your daily routine so that you get enough sleep at night. Ideally, an average human being needs 7-8 hours of sleep every day to remain healthy and function properly.
  3. Irregular Eating Habits – Skipping meals entirely or not having them at the proper time is a big no-no. Irregular eating habits are not only instrumental in triggering migraines but also affect your overall health, causing weight gain and bloatedness. Avoid skipping meals and set the proper time for them. Make changes to your diet to include more healthy foods like whole grains, green vegetables, and fruits.
