It is quite obvious that you need to have sex if you are looking to get pregnant naturally. Though there are certainly other ways by which you can get pregnant but that is not our concern right now. The thing that concerns a lot of couples is that whether it is okay to have sex during pregnancy or whether having sex can cause certain complications. It has been found out that there are can be quite a few complications in pregnancy, but having sex during pregnancy does not result in any such complications. As long as there are no problems in your pregnancy, you can have sex as often as you want to.
Sex during pregnancy causes miscarriage: A myth
There are people that claim that having sex during pregnancy increases the risk of miscarriage or causes harm to the fetus. This is a myth since the fetus is well protected inside the uterus and is surrounded by amniotic fluid which acts as a shock absorber for the fetus.
Several women tend to feel a lack of sexual desire during their pregnancy. It is mostly due to several hormonal changes in the body or fatigue and nausea may be other primary reasons for the loss of libido in women. Several emotional factors also contribute to it. Though this lack of sexual desire is often temporary and is not a major concern.
You can also have sex in the later stages of pregnancy but you would have to make certain adjustments and take precautions. But generally, couples do not engage in sex in the later stages. In certain cases, especially if you have had miscarriages in the past, the doctor might ask you to abstain from sex since it might increase the chances of complications in the pregnancy.
