On many occasions, people do things in spite of knowing that they will harm them. This is only because they lack will power that could restrain them from doing it. Willpower refers to a strong determination for doing a difficult task or an activity.
Ways in which willpower can be increased are as follows-
1. Managing Stress: Extreme level of stress can badly affect your body and may lead to anxiety, muscle pain, high blood pressure and a weakened immune system. Managing stress is very much essential as under high pressure, you tend to make impulsive decisions. Take a deep breath and relax for a minute or two in order to reduce levels of stress.
2. Meditate for 15 minutes in a day: Meditation makes you focus on your breath. Just sit straight, breathe in and breathe out. This method results in activating the prefrontal cortex, thus improving focus, attention and stress management.
3. Get Proper Sleep: Getting enough sleep helps your body maintain its energy levels. If you are deprived of sleep, your focus gets affected and there is a fall in your energy level. Proper rest improves your self control and develops an environment in which your brain functions really well.
4. Eat Healthy: Have enough of protein-rich and iron-rich food and avoid skipping your meals. This is because the ability to take correct decisions with the required willpower is influenced by what you eat. Sip on some lemonade or have a piece of dark chocolate to boost your energy levels which in turn, results in greater will power and enhanced ability to take decisions.
