Platelet Rich Plasma or PRP is rich concentrated plasma, containing around five times the number of platelets than what you have in normal circulating blood. Besides, it also has transforming growth factor and platelet derived growth factor along with bioactive proteins which help your hair to grow. They also aid in wound healing. If you have thinning hair and experience bald pattern hair loss, your dermatologist may recommend PRP therapy for you.

Procedure for PRP Therapy:

In this type of therapy, blood is drawn out from your body and then the plasma along with platelets is collected. The plasma helps in regeneration of tissue and also heals hair loss, owing to the fact that plasma is rich in platelets. The plasma is then injected into the hair or may be rubbed as per the condition along with derma roller treatment on the spot where you experience hair loss.

For best results, PRP therapy will require around eight visits or sittings, each two weeks apart and medications such as Finasteride and Minoxidil. Hair growth usually starts from the fourth week of having undergone the therapy. PRP therapy strengthens the follicles as well.

Numbing cream is applied for better PRP procedural experience.

Who should opt for PRP?

PRP is used to thicken the existing hair. However, you should seek the advice of doctor for more information in this regard.
