Minimally invasive gastrointestinal surgery, also identified as laparoscopic surgery or hand-assisted laparoscopic surgery (HALS), deals with minimally invasive methods where only one small keyhole incision is made in the abdomen in order to treat diseases originating from the gastrointestinal tract.
